Ubunye Clothing was born out of a series of innovative Enterprise and Supplier Development projects, in which My SME played an active role. These projects brought together many talented African fashion designers, who were trained not only in the art of African fashion design but also in business coaching. This business training empowered them to transform their creative skills into viable small businesses, helping to put food on the table and create sustainable livelihoods.

The vision for Ubunye Clothing evolved as we recognised the need for a dedicated platform to connect these emerging African fashion designers with the market. Driven by passion and informed by market research, we identified a significant gap for authentic traditional African dresses.

Today, Ubunye Clothing is committed to providing African fashion designers with the opportunity to access broader markets, empowering them through business training and funding opportunities. Our platform is more than just a marketplace, it’s a movement to uplift African talent and foster a thriving ecosystem for traditional African wear.
